How Divinus Aligns with Sephora’s Clean Standards for CBD Products

Pure Commitment

There is something you should know. Some wellness and beauty products on the market don’t necessarily have your “wellness” in mind when they are manufactured. In other words, along with ingredients that make you feel and look good, there may be a slew of ingredients you don’t want.

For example, you probably wouldn’t choose to slather your face with Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid – simply based on how impossible it is to spell. But it’s out there in some products.

So we made a pledge at Divinus to only include clean, pure, premium raw materials across our entire line of luxurious wellness and beauty offerings. If we wouldn’t use them ourselves, after all, we can’t expect that our customers should.  That’s why we use only 100% natural, unadulterated botanicals. It’s also why all Divinus products are paraben-free, silicone-free, phthalate-free, gluten-free, synthetic fragrance-free, synthetic dye-free, and mineral oil-free.

Let’s start where we start. Take something as simple as turmeric. You could go to the grocery store and buy a tin of it for a couple of bucks. And you probably wouldn’t think twice about where it was grown or how it was harvested, because turmeric is turmeric. Right?

Not if you’re going to rub that turmeric into your skin. In that case, you want the cleanest, purest turmeric available. So we source only 100% pesticide-free, premium turmeric root oil that is grown, harvested and processed in an earth-friendly way, without using or harming animals at all. And we test our products for quality and purity three separate times during our manufacturing process to make sure you get what Mother Nature intended – and nothing more.

This “nature’s finest” approach applies to every natural ingredient we use in every Divinus product, including Arnica, orange peel, spearmint, juniper, sage, black pepper, olive oil, rice bran oil, and – of course – Phytocannabinoid Rich CBD.

CBD deserves special attention here, because it never really had production or purity standards to follow. (Or, as we like to do, to exceed.)  Who could say what good enough was good enough?

Then, Sephora stepped in and changed the game.

In 2019 Sephora introduced a set of extremely high standards for their CBD-infused topical products. With the respect we have for the Sephora brand and their renown “Clean at Sephora” seal,  we knew right then and there how high we had to set our own standards.

Here’s what Sephora CBD standards require for every CBD product it sells:

  1. Exclusively contain full-spectrum or broad-spectrum Hemp CBD extracts, no isolate.
  2. Be derived from hemp grown in the U.S.
  3. Be accompanied by a certificate of analysis that could be made available for customers upon request.
  4. Be tested three times for quality and purity, including CBD concentration levels as well as microbial and chemical contaminants.
  5. Comply with the “Clean At Sephora” standards imposed on all products carried by the company, which ban the use of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oils and other potential toxins.

These quality standards not only ensure a premium product but they also make the standards completely transparent to consumers, so they can feel confident buying the products.

Now those were rules we could live by. In fact, we thought we might even up the ante by offering only CBD products that are 100% THC-free – which “Full Spectrum” extracts are not. Further, we use a proprietary patent-pending process that yields whole-plant extract for the most phytocannabinoid-rich CBD oil. What that means is our CBD extraction retains more of the healthful vitamins and nutrients you want – but without THC.

We also really liked Sephora’s idea of transparency. While we could go on all day about how our planet-friendly, animal-free products are tested repeatedly for purity throughout our production process, nothing is more convincing than validation from an independent lab.

That’s why every single Divinus product sold has a QR code printed on the label and product number for that specific batch. You scan the QR code that takes you to a site where you can then enter the specific number of the product you are holding in your hand. Click, and there you have it. The product purity numbers verified by a third-party lab. Don’t just take our word for how seriously we focus on quality – take theirs.

We also want to mention one more critical aspect of Sephora’s standards which has to do with the origin of the hemp plant itself. We contract with select US-based hemp farms to grow and harvest the plants we use in our products. Yes, this allows us to select the highest quality hemp. But more importantly, it allows use to promise you the plants are:

  • Organic
  • All-Natural
  • Non-GMO
  • Planet-Friendly
  • Pesticide-Free
  • Chemical-Free

Keep in mind, a lot of CBD-infused products on the market are made by manufacturers who buy mass-produced extracts and/or isolates from third-party vendors. It’s quite efficient. But we prefer to watch and control the entire process – starting the day the plant is plucked out of the ground and ending on the day we ship the final product to you.

There you have it.

We started with our own commitment to using only pure, high-grade, raw materials in all our premium wellness and beauty products. We chose to never add parabens, silicone, phthalates, glutens or any synthetic fragrances or dyes. And then — and only then — did we choose to apply the most stringent CBD standards in the industry.

We feel really good about our all-natural line of premium health and wellness products. Because we know they will make you feel really good, naturally.
